GORHAM —An autopsy will be performed on a 76-year-old fisherman whose body was found late Monday morning along the banks of the Androscoggin River near the Gorham/Shelburne town line, state fish and game officials said.

The body of Conway resident David Baker was found after a search that started at 7:50 a.m. Monday. Baker’s wife had alerted police that he had not returned from the previous day’s fishing trip.

The search involved police from Gorham, the New Hampshire State Police and friends familiar with his fishing locations.

A state conservation officer found his car shortly before 11 a.m. Baker’s body was found along the river at 11:17 a.m.

There were no signs of foul play on the body, but the New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s Office will do an autopsy.
