NORTH CONWAY — First responders said a one-alarm fire at the Burger King in North Conway led to heavy traffic tie-ups in the main shopping district of the town Friday afternoon.

North Conway police officials had urged residents and tourists to be patient with the backup traffic following the fire at the fast food restaurant at the corner of Routes 16 and 302.

The first reports came in at roughly 3 p.m.

Within an hour, North Conway police officials reported that the fire had been knocked down though local firefighters were remaining on the scene into the early evening.

There were no injuries reported.
