SALEM — A national specialty retail store will be officially opening on Sunday.
Cost Plus World Market will open its doors at 290 S. Broadway on at 10 a.m., according to its website.
Along with groceries and wine, the nationwide chain sells furniture, clothing, jewelry, decor and other gifts.
The company was started in 1958 in California and has over 200 locations nationwide, according to its website.
This will be the first New Hampshire location for the chain, although there are others in New England. Massachusetts has two locations, one in Framingham and the other in Hyannis.
Hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The store is housed in the space between Pet Smart and Five Below.
The space once housed the Sports Authority, which closed in May 2016 after the business filed for bankruptcy.
The Colorado-based Sports Authority had just over $1 billion in debt and auctioned off its assets, according to an April 30, 2016 article on Forbes.com.
The Salem Sports Authority location was one of four in the state out of the more than 400 nationwide.
The other New Hampshire Sports Authority locations were in Amherst, Nashua and Manchester.
