Manchester man facing felony charges after threatening man with knife

MANCHESTER - A city man faces felony charges after allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend with a knife early Saturday morning.

John Hanaford, 47, was arrested on a charge of felony criminal threatening and being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon, according to police.

Police were called to the area of 372 Lowell St. shortly after midnight for a report of a fight.

When officers arrived, they learned that Hanaford had confronted his former girlfriend and her current boyfriend with a knife outside her residence.

Police said the woman convinced Hanaford to drop the knife.

He was arrested nearby shortly after and taken to the Valley Street jail.
