Mass. woman, 74, injured while hiking in Sargent's Purchase

SARGENT’S PURCHASE — A Wilbraham, Mass., woman needed to be carried off the Glen Boulder Trail Saturday afternoon after injuring herself while hiking.

Georgina Geck, 74, was brought to the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin by Gorham EMS for further medical evaluation, Fish and Game officials said.

The first emergency call came in shortly before 4:30 p.m. by a separate group of hikers.

Geck’s hiking party and those making the call offered their assistance initially to the injured hiker.

While Fish and Game officials were responding to the scene, Geck was carried down to the trailhead by the party that offered assistance.
