MELANIE KLIER

NASHUA — A Massachusetts woman is facing charges in Nashua and Merrimack in the theft of jewelry during the burglary of a city home last April and the theft of packages in Merrimack, police said.

Melanie Klier, 40, of 16 Harrington Road, Apt. 1, Charlton, Mass., was arrested Thursday, police said, and charged with burglary, a Class B felony, in Nashua. Klier later was charged with two counts of theft by unauthorized taking, one a Class A felony and the other a Class B felony, police said.

She also was charged with three counts of theft by unauthorized taking in Merrimack, where she is accused of taking packages delivered to others at an apartment complex where she had been staying in June, police said.

Nashua police in April investigated the burglary, and said they identified Klier as a suspect and acquaintance of residents who reported a large amount of jewelry taken after someone broke into their home through an open porch window.

Detectives discovered Klier had pawned stolen items at various shops in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

In Merrimack, Klier is accused of taking several packages delivered to others at the Bowers Landing apartment complex. Police said they found some of the stolen items after searching a former tenant’s apartment where Klier had been staying.

Klier was being held in the Valley Street jail in Manchester on $50,000 cash bail on the Nashua felony and on $5,000 cash bail in the Merrimack case. She was scheduled for arraignment in both Nashua and Merrimack circuit courts Friday, police said.
