Nashua’s Michael Fletcher sat eighth after Thursday’s first day of competition at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships at TD Garden in Boston.
The second day of events in the junior men’s division age 17-18 is Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018.
Fletcher, who just graduated from Bishop Guertin High School and is headed to the University of Illinois, had a first-place score on the parallel bars (12.9) and a third-place rating on the pommel horse (12.95) in his total score of 75.95, three points behind leader Riley Loos of El Dorado Hills, Calif.
Fletcher’s score of 13.1 on his floor exercise placed him 11th. He was 12th on the rings (12.25), 11th in the vault (13.7) and 13th on the high bar (11.05).
