Oil truck catches on fire in Bow

November 11. 2017 10:43PM

BOW — A fire starting in the engine compartment of a fuel-oil truck in Bow went to two alarms before it was fully extinguished Saturday afternoon.

The initial report of the blaze came at roughly 2:30 p.m. regarding the commercial warehouse building located at 28 Ryan Road.

The owner tried to put out the flames himself but was unable to, officials said. Bystanders came and hooked the truck up to another vehicle to tow it out of the building to prevent damage to the structure.

Bow fire officials said the owner was treated and released on scene for smoke inhalation.

Fire departments from several surrounding towns assisted.

The state Department of Environmental Services also sent staff to the scene.
