Woman in critical condition after being pulled from car in Merrimack River in Concord off I-93

CONCORD — A woman was in critical condition at Concord Hospital Monday night after state police say her SUV plunged into the Merrimack River off Interstate 93.

According to state police, around 5:30 p.m. dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident on I-93 northbound in the area of exit 14.

The caller reported a vehicle veered to the right, off the road, and into a field along the Merrimack River. The vehicle then continued north through the field, where it eventually became airborne and ended up in the river.

State police and Concord Fire and Rescue personnel reported finding a large SUV upside-down and submerged in the Merrimack River.

According to state police, Concord Fire and Rescue personnel stabilized the vehicle and pulled a woman from the vehicle while it was still submerged.

Her identity was not released Monday night.

The crash remains under investigation.
