Police: Driver's failure to stop likely caused 3-car Merrimack crash that left 2 injured
MERRIMACK — Two people were taken by ambulance to the hospital Friday after a three-car accident at the intersection of Jessica Drive and Baboosic Lake Road.
Police said Erin Rother, 34, of Nashua was driving a 1999 Ford Escort north on Jessica Drive about 4:40 p.m. and did not stop at a stop sign.
A 2009 Cadillac STS, being driven on Baboosic Lake Road by Todd Rivard, 43, of Merrimack, struck the Escort in the rear driver’s side, pushing it into the westbound lane where it collided with a 2006 Mazda 3 being operated by Justin Grassini, 17, of Merrimack.
Rivard’s Cadillac then struck a utility pole guy wire and a small cluster of trees at the corner of Maidstone Drive.
Rother was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center while Rivard was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening. Grassini was able to leave the crash scene on his own.
All three vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
The crash is under investigation but police said it appears Rother’s failure to stop for the stop sign caused the collision. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the police at 424-3774.
