GOFFSTOWN — An ex-receptionist who embezzled approximately $35,000 from a Goffstown veterinary clinic received a suspended sentence on Friday, according to police.

Melissa Huszarski, 35, was sentenced to 2 to 5 years in state prison Friday, according to police. The sentence was suspended for 10 years on condition of good behavior.

Huszarski will be on probation for the next 5 years and is not allowed to have a job without supervision or handle money, police said. She also will have to pay restitution.

Huszarski was charged following a 2013 investigation. Between 2008 and 2013, she kept portions of cash payments made by owners who brought their pets to Glen Lake Animal Hospital. After the customers were charged, she would delete computer records about treatments and vaccinations given to the animals, investigators alleged.

An audit showed the thefts increased in frequency from monthly, to weekly, to nearly daily before Huszarski was caught and fired by the clinic.

A forensic audit identified the affected accounts and discrepancies.
