HOOKSETT — State police arrested a 26-year-old Belmont man after he crashed a stolen truck Friday night on Interstate 93, officials said.

The chase began north of Concord. A state trooper followed the vehicle, which dispatchers confirmed had just been stolen from a Laconia car dealership, after other motorists reported the driver was weaving across the road, police said.

The driver of the truck, identified as Joseph Costello, lost control and drove off the road while trying to take an exit ramp near the Hooksett tolls.

He was taken into custody without further incident just after 9:30 p.m. and charged with receiving stolen property, disobeying a police officer, reckless conduct, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of narcotics, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license.

Following the arrest, Costello was taken to Concord Hospital as a precaution, due to his suspected drug use.

He was then transported to Merrimack County Jail to await arraignment.
