SEABROOK — A Massachusetts couple was arrested late Wednesday night after robbing the staff of a Seabrook convenience store at knifepoint, according to local police officials.

Shannon Kelley, 24, of Nahant, Mass., and James Dryer, 23, of Salisbury, Mass., were arraigned Thursday on armed robbery charges in Rockingham County Superior Court.

Store employees of the On the Border convenience store at 25 Lafayette Road first called Seabrook police at 9:57 p.m. to report the armed robbery.

They told police they had been robbed at knifepoint by a white male wearing jeans, a T-shirt and a baseball hat, and by a white female wearing a pink top.

The male, later identified as Dryer, held the knife to the neck of one of the store employees before the pair left the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Patrol officers and detectives searched the area and Salisbury, Mass., police officer Craig Goodrich spotted the pair walking eastbound on Route 286 on the Seabrook-Salisbury line.

The pair was held until Seabrook investigators could identify them as the armed robbery suspects. They were taken into custody without further incident at 10:16 p.m. Wednesday, officials said.

Police found that Kelley was in possession of a large knife.

“This incident highlights the importance of interagency cooperation between the Seabrook Police Department and our neighbors,” Seabrook acting Police Chief Brett Walker said.
