West's Robitaille tops NE Interscholastic XC Championship in Maine

Manchester West junior Julia Robitaille became New England champion on Saturday. She won the 83rd New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championship in Belfast, Maine. Robitaille finished the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 31.65 seconds, nine seconds agead of the second place finisher.

Exeter High senior Jackie Gaughan, who won the Division I meet and Meet of Champions the last two weeks, finished sixth, completing the course in 18:06.50.

Bishop Guertin sophomore Caroline Fischer was 11th (18:20.02). Souhegan of Amherst senior Jane Leighton was 12th (18:22.11). Milford junior Lauren Robinson was 14th (18:34.76). BG sophomore Haley Schmitt was 15th (18:36.52), Coe-Brown of Northwood freshman Addison Cox was 17th (18:40.04) and Oyster River of Durham senior Danielle Slavin was 19th (18:41.03).

Pinkerton of Derry's girls won the team championship with 163 points. BG was second, with 183. Souhegan was fifth with 236 and Coe-Brown was seventh with 239 points.

On the boys' side, Concord junior Forest MacKenzie, the Division I champion, finished 14th (16:02.75) and Nashua North's David Vorbach, the Meet of Champions winner, was 16th (16:03.69). Concord's team finished fifth with 202 points.
