PINKHAM’S GRANT — A Rhode Island woman fell 20 feet off the edge of the Mount Washington Auto Road Saturday after a mechanical failure caused her to lose control of her motorcycle.

Gloria Vega, 56, was descending the mountain on a 2017 Harley Davidson around 1:30 p.m. when the crash occurred, state police said in a statement.

She sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center.

The Mount Washington Auto Road had to be closed while the Gorham Fire Department, Gorham EMS and other agencies extracted Vega from the crash site.
