HAMPTON -- A snowy owl is recovering after it was struck by a vehicle on Route 101 in Hampton Thursday morning.
Deputy Police Chief David Hobbs said the owl was discovered around 7 a.m. and turned over to Jane Kelly, owner of On the Wing, a wildlife rehabilitation facility in Epping.
X-rays showed a hairline fracture to the bird’s right wing and trauma to the spine and head and a bruised nictitating membrane (third eyelid), Kelly said; recovery is expected to take about four weeks.
