The University of New Hampshire men's hockey team spent just one week atop the two national polls, as it dropped to No. 2 in both after a 3-2 loss to Boston University on Thursday.
Boston College took over the top spot in both the USCHO.com Top 20 and the USA Today Top 15. The Eagles garnered 35 first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and 22 in the USA Today poll, while the Wildcats had nine in each.
Rounding out the top five in each poll are Notre Dame at No. 3, Minnesota at No. 4 and Miami of Ohio at No. 5. Dartmouth is No. 10 in the USCHO.com poll and 11th in the USA Today.
The Wildcats are off until Dec. 30 when they play at Dartmouth.
Southern New Hampshire 89, Mercy 42: Sloane Sorrell paced three Penmen in double figures with 16 points and 11 rebounds as SNHU cruised to victory. SNHU evened its record at 4-4, while the Mavericks dropped to 0-6.
The 47-point margin of victory is the largest for the Penmen since an 80-31 victory over Green Mountain College on Nov. 16, 2003, while the 89 points is the highest point total since SNHU scored 90 in a 90-70 win over Dowling College on Dec. 29, 2008.
UNH: Matt Evans was named to The Sports Network FCS All-America Team for the second straight year, while Jared Smith was named to the All-America Third Team. Evans, a senior, led the Colonial Athletic Association with 115 total tackles, which ranked 20th in the country, and he tacked on a nation-best 77 solo tackles. The co-captain is UNH's all-time tackle leader.
Smith, a senior, ranked fifth in the CAA with 10 tackles for loss, and his four sacks ranked third in the league. In 11 games, he recorded 40 tackles, 26 solo, blocked three kicks, forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble and tallied four pass breakups.
Keene State: Five Owls were recognized by the Little East Conference. Ryan Martin was men's basketball co-player of the week, Diana Pimer was women's swimmer of the week, Brianna Laliberte of Candia was women's rookie swimmer of the week, Kelly Gilmore was women's rookie diver of the week and Lucia Martin of Swanzey was women's rookie field athlete of the week.
Franklin Pierce: The Franklin Pierce University track and field team's men's 4x440-yard relay team has been named Northeast-10 Conference relay team of the week.
Plymouth State: Mike Freitag was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) player of the week and Jack Astedt was named the league goalie of the week. ... Panther men's basketball team guard Alex Burt of Dover was named the Little East Conference co-player of the week. ... Parker Spear was named to the NCAA Division III All-New England North Team.
Wheaton College: Fullback Jordan Muse of Candia, a former standout at Manchester Central High School, has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Division III Women's Soccer All-Star Team.
