The Bedford High girls' basketball team opened a 17-point lead after one quarter and handed Pinkerton of Derry a 55-39 setback in Bedford on Friday night.
The victory extended Bedford's winning streak to 10 games and improved the team's Division I record to 14-2. Bedford held Pinkerton to four points in both the first and fourth quarters. McKenzie Brown scored 17 points, and teammate Rachel Collins sank two treys and tallied 16 points for the winners. Colleen Fortier and Brandy Bonneau each contributed nine points to Pinkerton's cause. Pinkerton is also 14-2.
Winnacunnet 48, Central 39: At Manchester, Melissa MacLeod scored a game-high 21 points to help Winnacunnet raise its Division I record to 10-5. Katherine Johnson tossed in a team-high 11 for Central (4-12), which was outscored 13-5 in the second quarter and 14-7 in the fourth.
Sanborn 43, Raymond 41: At Raymond, Sanborn overcame a five-point fourth-quarter deficit and improved to 2-16 in Division III. Sanborn's Amanda Turco led all scorers with 18 points. Amanda McGee led Raymond (3-15) with 16.
Londonderry 75, Trinity 30: At Londonderry, the Lancers led 30-0 after one quarter and improved their Division I record to 12-4. Londonderry's Jamie King made three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 13 points. Elizabeth Graveline led Trinity (4-11) with nine.
Groveton 57, Littleton 35: At Littleton, senior Makenna Burke poured in 19 points, including her 1,000th career point, to help Groveton raise its Division IV record to 13-4. Burke, who has been averaging more than 15 points a game this season, reached the milestone with her final basket in the game with 1:53 to play in regulation.
Alvirne 68, Salem 67: At Salem, Leanne Winans dropped in a free throw with five seconds left in regulation to snap a 67-67 tie and improve the Broncos to 12-4. Earlier, with just under a minute to play and Alvirne leading 67-65, Brenna Blakslee hit a layup to tie the game. Winans finished with 11 points, but the game's high scorer was teammate Veronica Moceri who netted 25. Blakslee led the Blue Devils (10-6) with 18 while Emily Hickey added 15.
Nashua South 59, Manchester Memorial 43: At Manchester, despite 26 points and 14 rebounds from sophomore forward Makenah Grisson, the Crusaders fell to 5-10 in Division I. Memorial shooting guard Danielle Fletcher suffered a torn ACL 16 seconds into the contest. Fletcher missed the previous six games with a concussion.
Caitlyn Perry made five 3-pointers and scored 26 points for South, which improved to 3-11.
Central 50, Winnacunnet 46: At Hampton, the Little Green hit clutch shots in the closing minutes of play and went 12-for-12 from the free throw line in the second half to remain undefeated through 15 Divsion I games. Central trailed by two points in the closing minutes of play before opening a six point lead off a Troy Pelletier (14 points) trey, a Mike Plentzas (10 points) jumper and two clutch free throws from point guard Dawson Dickson (10 points).
Central hit 24 of 28 free throws in the game and, with Taylor Kelly's 10-point contribution, had four players score in double figures. Rich Ruffin led Winnacunnet (6-8) with 16 points.
Nashua South 77, West 63: At Manchester, Tim Preston scored a game-high 26 points and his older brother Jack Preston added 17 as South improved to 11-3 in Division I. Nolan Flynn led West (1-12) with 25.
Bedford 55, Pinkerton 40: At Derry, Cam Meservey and Taylor Grande scored 19 and 12 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who sport an 8-6 Division I record.
Pinkerton, which led 15-10 after eight minutes, was fueled by Luke Testa's 13 points. The Astros are 4-10.
Alvirne 71, Salem 33: At Hudson, Tyler Brown tossed in 15 points and Tyler Livingston added another 13 as the Broncos rolled to their eighth Division I win of the season. Tim Dodier tallied 10 for Salem which slipped to 5-8.
Trinity 74, Londonderry 40: At Manchester, Carmen Giampetruzzi collected 25 points and 18 rebounds as Trinity raised its Division I record to 12-1. The Pioneers led 23-9 after one quarter and 42-20 at halftime. Robert Wilson scored eight to lead Londonderry (4-11).
Littleton 59, Groveton 28: At Littleton, the Crusaders locked up the No. 1 seed in Division IV as they improved to 16-1 with one game to play.
Josh Bogardus led the winners with 21 points. Owen Stone chipped in 10. Christian Guay paced the Eagles with eight points. Littleton led by 10 after one quarter and 14 at the half.
Exeter 46, Concord 45: At Exeter, after being fouled on a 3-point attempt with one second remaining in regulation, Tyler Russ made all three awarded free throws and the Blue Hawks eked out the Division I victory. The one-point tosses capped a 17-10 Exeter fourth period.
Russ finished the game with 15 points.
Kaleb Marquis netted 18 points for Concord. Concord's Walter Szulc totaled 17, including three 3-pointers.
