CAMPTON — Monday night a Massachusetts man allegedly assaulted his sister on Dunn Avenue, got shot by his brother-in-law, and was arrested, Campton Police Chief Christopher Warn said in a press release Tuesday.

Joseph Ciraso, 45 of Waltham, Mass., was charged with assault and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Monday night, Warn said.

Campton police responded to a report of an assault on Dunn Avenue. When police arrived they learned Ciraso had been involved in a physical altercation with his sister, 39-year-old Tina Johnson of Campton.

After the altercation, Tina’s husband, 39-year-old Mark Johnson fired a pistol at Ciraso, wounding him, Warn said.

Ciraso fled the area, but was stopped in Holderness.

Ciraso was taken to Speare Hospital in Plymouth where he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

He was also charged with assault.
