Gambling authority hires consultant
CONCORD - The New Hampshire Gaming Regulatory Oversight Authority chose WhiteSand Gaming of Nevada and New Jersey as its consultants as it works to craft a regulatory structure for the state if casino gambling is approved.
The company will help the authority draft recommendations due Dec. 15, as well as evaluate current regulations and their effectiveness with expanded gambling and develop a legislative proposal for the next session beginning in January.
The gambling authority received nine proposals and found WhiteSand's best addressed its needs.
"Being a part of state government, it is especially important to follow a process that is committed to integrity, quality, and transparency," said the Authority's chairman, Rep. Richard Ames, D-Jaffrey. "We were very pleased with the expertise and knowledge of the consultants who submitted responses to our Request for Proposal."
He said the authority is indefinitely postponing action on its original plan to hire a local attorney-consultant in addition to the gaming consultant. He said the authority determined additional services are not needed.
The next authority meeting is Oct. 26.
