The Derryfield School of Manchester remained undefeated with a 12-0 win over visiting Farmington in NHIAA girls' soccer action Wednesday.
Derryfield improved to 4-0-0 on the season and has outscored opponents 28-3. Freshman Gabi Brummett had another big game, scoring six goals and adding an assist.
Derryfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first few minutes and led 7-0 at halftime. Cougars head coach Jack Sanford said that in games like that he prefers to work on specific aspects of his team's game.
"It's tough as a coach to make every player get challenged so we try to put conditions on the game so every player works on some part of their game that can make them better," Sanford. "It could have been more goals, but I feel it's insulting to keep going that route so I take players off, so we play with 10 and try to be improving on our possessive style of game."
Emma Garfield (goal), Phoebe Socha (two goals), Sophia Allard (goal, assist) and Chloe Warner (goal) chipped in as well. Derryfield goalie Cam Huftalen made three saves for her second shutout. Farmington fell to 1-3.
Wilton-Lyndeborough 3, Trinity 1 (25-15, 25-21, 27-25. 25-19): Leading Trinity were Jessica Tremblay (17 service points), Allison Doherty (4 back row hits) and Jackie O'Connell (7 digs).
Pinkerton 3, Keene 0 (25-15, 25-9, 25-12): Pinkerton was led by Elizabeth Hicks with 11 assists and five digs. Lexie Verreault added 11 digs and Taylor Ferdinando had 11 assists and four digs.
Hollis/Brookline 3, Manchester Central 0: Sophie Saunders (13 service points, five aces, four kills), Kayla Barron (12 service points, four aces, seven assists) and Michaela Day (five kills, four aces) led the way for HB (3-1). Game scores were 25-13, 25-4 and 25-16. Central fell to 0-4.
ConVal 3, Hillsboro-Deering 1: ConVal of Peterboro won by game scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-16 and 25-16. Kristina Stevens (five blocks), Ginny Philbrick (five kills), Emily Hatcher (five kills) and Hannah Pepper (three aces) led HD.
Portsmouth Christian 3, Pittsfield 2: In a tight match, the game scores were 25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 26-24 and 15-11. Sophomore Amelia Sheedy had 16 kills, junior Nikki Dudley had 17 digs.
InterLakes 3, Newfound 0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-23): Leading the way for the Lakers were senior captains Jordan Donohue (13 kills, 5 digs, 3 blocks) and Lydia Swedberg (16 digs, 9 points, 2 kills). Victoria Burns had a run of eight straight points to bring Inter-Lakes (4-1) back from a 13-5 deficit in the second set and she finished the match with 12 points, 4 aces and 6 digs. Jessica Schofield recorded 7 kills and 4 blocks in a strong performance at the net. Also contributing were Sarah Sundius (5 kills), Hayley Roth (18 assists, 6 points, 5 digs) and Jennifer Pelczar (12 points, 7 aces).
Bedford 3, Goffstown 1: Top performers in the match were Chandler Lake (23 digs), Kendal Sonovick (10 kills, 20 digs), Hannah Koehler (17 kills), Kendra Siemiesz (25 assists), Jessica Williamson (14 kills, 18 digs) and Rene Roggenbuck (six blocks, eight kills).
Lebanon 5, Merrimack Valley 0:In Lebanon, the Raiders (3-1) got two goals from Tanner Singleton. Merrimack Valley (2-4) received eight saves from goalie Jonathan Bailey.
Hopkinton 2, Bow 0: The Hawks (5-0) got goals from Doug Fleury in the 36th minute and Riley McNicholas in the 71st minute.
Campbell 2, Sanborn 0:In Litchfield, Campbell (2-2) was led by Riley Grant, who scored in the 30th minute, on an assist from Andrew Smarse. Jonathan Donaghey scored his eighth season goal in the 46th minute.
Bishop Guertin 3, Londonderry 0 Carly Caveny, Kate Bradford and Brooke Pearson scopred for BG (2-3). Kelly Mahoney made threesaves in the win. Londonderry goalie Samantha Harris made 20 saves in the loss.
Newfound 3, Hopkinton 2: Newfound scored first on a goal by Megan Libby. The assist went to Allie Symonds at the 20:04 mark. Right before halftime Karissa Bony put Newfound back in the lead with 1:46 remaining in the half. Amanda Johnston had the assist. Libby made it 3-1 seven minutes into the second half.
Salem 10, Nashua South 0: In Salem, the Blue Devils (5-1) defeated the Panthers (0-6) behind Allie Sirmaian who scored three goals and Abbey Raymond with two goals and two assists. Amanda Travaglini, Lizzy Twomey, Kara McGuire, Chantalle Dumont and Erika Smith each had one goal. Kelsey Collins had two assists and teammates Kiley Keenan and Kerry Field each had one assist. Salem goalie Meaghan Williams earned the shutout.
Derryfield 6, Mascenic 0: Twin sisters Colbi Vaillancourt and Berklee Vaillancourt each scored two goals to lead Derryfield School of Manchester. It marks the fifth shutout win for the Cougars (5-0) behind netminder Kate Johnson. Colbi Vaillancourt has 12 goals this season, Berklee Vaillancourt has nine and Polly Carter added her eighth. Freshman Tyler Crews also recorded her first varsity goal. Carter and Colbi Vaillancourt each had two assists while Zoe PiSierra added one.
Goffstown 4, Milford 0: Goffstown (4-0) beat Milford (1-4) behind goals from Nikki LeCour, Alyssa Lombardi, Hannah Gifford, and Molly Norton. Annie Steckowych had two assists. Goffstown's goalie, Bry Fournier, had an excellent game making seven saves. Milford's Goalie, Kaitlyn Nelson turned away 11 shots.
Pinkerton 6, Bedford 0: In Bedford, Pinkerton (4-1) was led by Julie Saltamartini who tallied three goals. Kaylie DeCosmo, Jessica McCully and Haley Harrington each had one goal. DeCosmo had two assists. Pinkerton goalie Abbey Doherty had six saves.Central 1, Keene 0: The lone goal was scored by freshman Jenna Chrabolowski. Assists went to Mikayla Nguyen and Abby Jackson. Central is 2-3.
