UNH fires coach McCloskey over 'incident of inappropriate physical contact with a player'

The University of New Hampshire has fired women's head hockey coach Brian McCloskey, according to a press release issued by the university Thursday.

According to the release, McCloskey was let go after an investigation into an incident of inappropriate physical contact with a player on the bench during the Wildcats' home game on Saturday.

"The safety and well-being of our student-athletes is our number one priority," said UNH athletics director Marty Scarano in the release. "Coaches are role models for our students and responsible for their dignity and safety and we have zero tolerance for unsportsmanlike behavior on any of our athletic teams."
