Bristol police arrest three in attempted home invasion
Lt. Kris Bean said the trio targeted an individual in an apartment building at 76 Summer St. and had actually broken into the building three times Monday night trying to find him.
On the second attempt, Bean said, they ran into the man they were seeking as he was walking with another man outside. The two men asked what the others were doing and, Bean said, they put a gun to one man's head.
The intended target and the man he was with managed to run away, Bean said.
The three then broke into the Summer Street building and were "actually in the basement" when police arrived, Bean said.
They ran out of the basement but police caught up to and arrested Chance Griffin, 20, of New Hampton, and Edward Esty, 18, who has no fixed address.
Jeremy Jewell, 17, of Laconia was arrested later in the Lake City.
Each is charged with attempted armed robbery.
Jewell also was arrested for receiving stolen property. Bean said the car the three used was stolen. Jewell also was arrested for warrants issued on a burglary charge and for failing to appear in court on another charge of receiving stolen property.
Bean said investigators are looking into whether the three were involved in an armed robbery Monday night in Northfield.
Investigators also believe the trio may be responsible for recent thefts from motor vehicles, including break-ins Monday night of cars parked outside the Summer Street apartment building.
Bean said police are obtaining warrants to search the stolen vehicle, which they recovered in Laconia, and expect to find some of the missing property inside it.
Griffin, Esty and Jewell are being held at the Grafton County jail and will be arraigned Tuesday in 2nd Circuit Court, Plymouth District Division.
Police recovered some property in connection with recent thefts from motor vehicles in the town. Anyone missing property who resides in the Bristol area is asked to call police at 744-6320.
