Sex assault trial set to begin for former Londonderry youth football coach

BRENTWOOD - A jury was selected Monday in the trial of a former Londonderry youth football coach accused of sexually assaulting two young girls during sleepovers at his home.

Opening arguments in the trial of Timothy Longua, 42, are set to begin Tuesday morning in Rockingham County Superior Court.

He is facing seven charges related to the alleged sexual assaults, which allegedly happened between May and December 2012.

The two girls were about 11 and 12 years old at the time, prosecutors said.

Longua has pleaded not guilty and remains free on bail.

He could face up to 7 ½ to 15 years in state prison if convicted on the most serious charges.

Longua was serving as an assistant football coach for the Londonderry Wildcats during the 2012 season.

Londonderry police said they first learned of the alleged abuse on Feb. 5 when they were contacted by the state Department of Children, Youth and Families.
