NH well-represented in U16 skiing

The next generation of aspiring Olympic skiers from New Hampshire is well represented this week at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, N.Y., site of the USSA Eastern Region U16 Championships.

Thirty-seven Granite Staters are among the East Coast racers who will be competing on Olympic-size courses for two days of super-G, two days of giant slalom and one day of slalom competition, beginning today and concluding on Monday.

The top 18 girls and top 19 boys reached the regional through qualification in five statewide races this winter.

The New Hampshire girls’ contingent, listed in order of finish in the state, includes: Anna Foley, Tess Coutu, Hailey Blatchford, Sarah Gillis, Ashley Houser, Maya Bernier, Victoria Chernin, Courtney Couture, Alexa Dannis, Morgan Crowther, Madelyn Glavin, Taylor Dobyns, Emma Niiler, Elizabeth Osuchowski, Kristina Wolff, Lucie Gildehaus, Brianna Stout and Cameron Easton.

Representing New Hampshire in the boys’ competition are Crowley Gentile, Luke Hanlon, Noah Drummond, Giovanni Lazzari, Brian Seltzer, Joseph Gillis, Hunter Brayton, Nils Kingston, Bailey Laidman, R.J. Humphreys, Morgan Dawkins, William Trudeau, Lyons Brown, Peter Rowe, Ryan Pratt, Matt Austin, Benjamin Slater, Eric Bonewald and Derick Peake.
