Nashua man, 19, charged in simple assault at SNHU

HOOKSETT — A 19-year-old Nashua man has been booked on several charges after he allegedly prevented his girlfriend from leaving her Southern New Hampshire University dorm during an argument, police said.

Matthew Deitrich, 19, of Nashua, was arrested and charged with domestic violence-related simple assault and false imprisonment, police said.

According to police, the unnamed victim was attempting to leave her dorm room during an argument but was blocked from exiting by Deitrich, who allegedly pushed her onto the side of her bed where she struck one of the bedposts.

Deitrich was released on $2,500 personal recognizance bail and ordered to appear before the 6th Circuit Court in Hooksett on April 23.
