Concord native Ryan Joy to coach PSU women

Ryan Joy, a soccer coach for the past eight years at the college, high school and Olympic Development level, was named head coach of the Plymouth State women’s soccer program Thursday. A Concord native, Joy becomes the 12th head coach in the 38-year history of the program. He played for the Panther men’s squad in 2009 and served the past four seasons as an assistant in the men’s program under head coach Rob Wright.

Joy takes over from Cindy Bennett, who coached the Panther women the past four seasons.

Joy previously was the girls’ soccer coach at Concord High School (2007-08) and served as head boys’ soccer coach at Bishop Brady High School of Concord (2011-13). Joy won NHIAA Coach of the Year honors in 2013.

Joy also coached youth soccer at various levels and worked at a soccer player development academy in New Hampshire the past four years.

Joy inherits a Panther squad that finished 6-12 overall with a 2-5 mark in the Little East Conference.
