Dyn to host eighth-graders from Manchester, Hooksett

MANCHESTER — Mayor Ted Gatsas and former Manchester Mayor Bob Baines, director of STEAM Ahead NH, have announced that Dyn — an Internet performance company — will host all eighth-graders from the Middle School at Parkside on Monday at 9 a.m.

Students from the David R. Cawley Middle School in Hooksett are also invited to attend. STEAM Ahead NH will be present to recruit students to be part of the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) Academy at Manchester High School West beginning this fall.

Students will be welcomed by Dyn CEO Jeremy Hitchcock, a 2000 graduate of West, who is supporting the educational innovation project, along with SilverTech CEO Nick Soggu, a Memorial High School graduate. Through the initiative students can graduate from high school with one full-year of college credit at no cost to the students.

Higher education partners include Manchester Community College and the University System of New Hampshire. Also addressing the students will be Gov. Maggie Hassan, former Gov. John Lynch, Superintendent Debra Livingston and West Principal Chris Motika. Information about STEAM Ahead can be found at www.steamaheadnh.com

The following week, parents can attend an information night at Manchester High School West cafeteria from 6 to 7 p.m. The information will be presented by West High School Principal Chris Motika and Baines of STEAM Ahead NH.
