Renovations planned for Mall at Rockingham Park
Simon Properties, the owner of the 1.025-million square foot mall, recently announced plans for an extensive interior and exterior renovation to the mall to update its look. The mall opened in 1991, and this will be the first major update to the mall's overall look since then, according to mall general manager Cindy Hall.
"We're confident this transformation will enhance the mall to become one of the best in the entire region, and further strengthen our position as a shopping and dining destination for those not only in New Hampshire, but also in the Greater Boston area and neighboring Vermont, Maine, and even Canada," said Hall.
The highlights of the project include a redesign of the existing mall entrances, including automatic doors and new facades; updates to the food court, including a new entrance, new colors, lighting, updated seating layout, and improved ADA compliance; and updated feature stairs at the center court of the mall.
The new tile floors are one of the biggest investments Simon Properties is making at the mall, according to Frankie Campione, principal at Create Architecture and Planning, the architectural firm for the project. The black and white tiles throughout the mall will be replaced with a lighter, brighter Italian-style tile, Campione said.
The architect said the designers and construction crews will be working hard to make sure the mall remains a pleasant and viable shopping experience even as it is undergoing the renovations.
