North Sutton women charged with Home Depot thefts
HAVERHILL — Two North Sutton women are charged in an alleged scheme that netted them a large array of stolen tools and other merchandise worth more than $3,000 on Nov. 29, 2013, from The Home Depot in Lebanon.
A Grafton County Superior Court grand jury has indicted Charity Lee, 34, and Jennifer MacDonald, 45, both of 115 Shadow Hill Road in Sutton, on one count each of theft by unauthorized taking, accomplice liability.
Lee ran a cash register at the store and MacDonald came through Lee’s checkout where “the stuff didn’t get rung up appropriately,” said Phil Roberts, Lebanon’s deputy police chief.
Prosecutors prepared a list of 15 items the pair allegedly stole, including five wall lanterns, a DeWalt jigsaw, a DeWalt driver, a Husky rolling chest, a rotary hammer, a vanity, two banker’s lamps and a floor lamp. The charges are Class A felonies.
Canaan man indicted
In other indictments the grand jury handed up during its April session:
Russell Christian, 41, of 1164 Route 118 in Canaan is charged with simple assault, second-degree assault, criminal mischief, false imprisonment, criminal threatening and theft by unauthorized taking, all on Dec. 23, 2013, in Canaan.
Christian, who was convicted in 2013 in Lebanon District Court for violation of a protective order, according to the indictments, is accused of striking Evelyn Christian in the face with his hand, placing his hands around her neck and impeding her breathing.
He’s also accused of damaging an iPad that belonged to Evelyn Christian by throwing it on a concrete floor, interfering with her physical movement by holding her down on a couch, placing her in fear of imminent bodily injury by holding a steak knife to her throat and threatening that the “only way she would leave would be in a body bag, or words to that effect,” according to the indictment.
The grand jury also indicted him for stealing a truck between August 2012 and April 2013 in Canaan with a value of more than $1,500 that belonged to Chester Gowing.
Five of the six alleged offenses occurred while Christian was subject to bail conditions following his 2013 jury conviction for second-degree assault and aggravated driving under the influence.
Five of the charges are special felonies. The theft charge is a Class A felony.
Wayne W. Skillin, 25, of 506 Harriman Road in Dalton is charged with assaults by prisoners on Feb. 26 in North Haverhill. Skillin is accused of striking fellow-inmate John Kantowski with his fists on that date at the Grafton County House of Corrections.
