NH College Roundup: PSU women top KSC for lax crown

The third-seeded Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team scored the final four goals to defeat top-seeded Keene State College 8-4 Sunday for the Little East Conference Tournament championship at Owl Athletic Complex in Keene. PSU held KSC scoreless over the final 23 minutes.

The Panthers (12-4) won their fifth Little East Tournament championship and their first since 2006. The Panthers advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships for the fifth time in school history. PSU senior goalie Lorin Field of Hollis was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Softball

Dartmouth 7, Penn 3: In Hanover, Dartmouth captured its first-ever Ivy League title. Junior Kristen Rumley notched her 18th season win, She tossed a five hitter and fanned eight.

Keene State 4, Rhode Island College 1: In Mansfield, Conn., sophomore Greenland’s Mariah Crisp fanned 12 and pitched her fourth complete tournament game as the Owls won the 2014 Little East Conference softball tournament title. The title is the fifth overall for Keene, first since 2005, giving the Owls an NCAA berth. Crisp was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Men’s lacrosse

Keene State 12, Eastern Conn. St. 8: In Keene, freshmen Bryan Rotatori and Robert Hart each scored three goals to lead the Owls to the Little East Conference title championship Sunday. It’s the fifth tournament title for Keene State (10-6), which gain an NCAA berth. Sophomore goalie Dylan Florian was selected as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Baseball

Dartmouth 11, Yale 4: In Hanover, Dartmouth won its one-game playoff for the Rolfe Division crown. Dartmouth (18-19) extended its string of division titles to seven. The Big Green’s Nick Lombardi had a two-run triple to highlight a seven-run third inning, then added a two-run homer in the eighth. Dartmouth will visit Columbia next weekend in the Ivy Championship Series.

SNHU 5, Stonehill 3: In Hooksett, Riley Palmer of Goffstown led the winners with a two-run homer. Tim Viehoff of Derry earned the win on the hill.
