Pelham High School expansion slated to start up this summer
The project includes a two-story addition and would increase the total square-footage from 88,000 square feet to 130,000 square feet.
The targeted completion date is summer 2016, with students continuing to attend the school while the work is being done.
“We’ll begin site work this summer, and construction will begin in the late summer or early fall,” Carton said. “We haven’t yet picked a ground-breaking date, but expect it to be late August or early fall.”
Carton said the school board will continue to play a role in the renovations as the work is ongoing.
Two board members will sit on the committee, which will be chaired by Pelham High School Principal Dorothy Mohr. The committee will also include community members and high school faculty and staff.
The project looks to eliminate much of the traffic congestion at the school by creating more parking to the right of the building and changing the location of the bus loop.
