Charlestown police search for man after stabbing

CHARLESTOWN - A Morways mobile home park resident was stabbed by a man behind his mobile home Saturday night.

“The victim was cut with a utility knife,” Charlestown Police Chief Patrick Connors said. “The details of the assault are still fuzzy and we're still investigating.”

Police responded to the park Saturday around 8:30 p.m. after the resident reported the stabbing.

“According to the victim, somebody was outside of his house and he went out to see what the commotion was,” Connors said.

The resident then got into an altercation with a man who was described by the victim as intoxicated. The victim also said he had a raspy voice, was in his late 30s to early 40s and was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt.

The Morways Park man was cut several times by the man with a utility knife. Connors described the wounds as superficial.
Police used a K-9 to track the alleged stabber two and a half miles out of the park and into downtown Charlestown where the scent was lost.

“The only witness is the victim. Nobody else remembers anything out of the ordinary that night,” he said.

Connors said anyone with any information is asked to call Charlestown Sgt. Richard Almeida at 826-5747.
