Police say Manchester man, 76, seriously hurt when struck by car in parking lot

MANCHESTER -- A 76-year-old man was seriously hurt Tuesday as he walked out of a 7-Eleven at 117 Queen City Ave.

Jemma Ochoa, 16, was driving a 2004 Chrysler that hit Herbert Steinberg of 148 Warner St.  as he walked through the store parking lot to his car at 5:30 p.m.

Steinberg suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Elliot Hospital, police said. An update on his condition was unavailable Wednesday morning.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Traffic Unit. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Manchester Police Department at 668-8711.
