Manchester Crimewatch: Bedford man faces DWI, drug charges in Manchester
MANCHESTER — Police said a Bedford man refused repeated commands to get out of his vehicle early Wednesday morning after he was stopped for driving while intoxicated on Hanover Street.
Kevin Marcus, 25, of 18 Horizon Drive, was also charged with resisting arrest or detention. Marcus was arraigned on those misdemeanor charges, as well as a felony charge of possession of a controlled drug in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division.
The drug charge alleges Marcus had the controlled drug Alprazolam (Xanax) in his possession when he was arrested at 2:40 a.m.
Bail was set at $1,000 cash/surety. No plea can be entered to a felony in Circuit Court, so a probable cause hearing was set for June 18. Trial on the misdemeanors was set for July 9.
Attempted strangulation charged
Bail was set at $1,000 cash/surety Wednesday for a city man accused of knocking his girlfriend to the ground late Tuesday night, grabbing her by the neck and applying pressure that made it difficult for the woman to breathe.
Stephen M. Wheelock, 44, of 273 Grove St., could enter no plea Wednesday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a felony charge of second-degree assault, so a probable cause hearing was set for June 18.
Wheelock pleaded innocent to a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled drug, for allegedly having marijuana in his possession. Trial was set for July 9. Bail conditions bar contact with the alleged victim and bar Wheelock from her residence.
