GORHAM — Members of Disabled American Veterans from New Hampshire will hold their annual convention June 6-8 at the Town & Country Inn Resort.
More than 100 DAV members — including many ill and injured veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan — are expected to attend.
According to Ben Saxon, DAV Department of New Hampshire commander, convention business sessions will include adoption of resolutions to be submitted to DAV’s National Convention in Las Vegas Aug. 9-12.
Several of these mandates are expected to concentrate on improvements in the rights and benefits earned by more than 3 million veterans disabled during wartime service to their country.
DAV leaders are concerned about the issues because many federal cost-cutting proposals would harm these injured heroes.
The New Hampshire convention’s highlight will be a banquet on Saturday, June 7, at 6 p.m., at which featured speaker will be Paula Raymond, DAV Auxilliary past national commander; and Justin B. Hart, DAV assistant national service director.
Election of new DAV state officers for the coming year will be held on June 7.
