DERRY — Community Caregivers will hold an open house on Tuesday, July 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in its office in the Masonic Temple at 58 E. Broadway.
Community members who are interested in learning about volunteer opportunities, client services and the Loaner’s Closet program are encouraged to attend. Staff and board members will be available to discuss programs and to answer questions, according to a news release.
The organization, through a volunteer network, assists the elderly and disabled with services such as friendly visiting, respite care, grocery shopping, light chores, light home repair and maintenance, yard work and medical transportation, said Cindee Tanuma, executive director.
Services offered through Caregivers are vital for allowing individuals to maintain independence in the community and the home, Tanuma said.
All services are free. Caregivers also operates a loaner’s closet for durable medical equipment, with more than 5,500 pieces of equipment that are free to the general public for loan as long as needed. Gently used, clean donations are sought, Tanuma said.
During the open house, the organization will hold a basket raffle with a door prize of four tickets to a Fisher Cats game in August. Hot dogs, cold drinks, yogurt treats and other items donated by local businesses will be served.
