The Keene Swamp Bats earned a key victory over their Granite State rivals on Friday night.
Robbie Coman went 3-for-5 and Pat McGrath went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Swamp Bats past the Laconia Muskrats 9-1 before 1,057 fans at Alumni Field in Keene.
The Swamp Bats improved to 20-21 with one regular-season game to play, tonight at Sanford. If the Swamp Bats win, they will qualify for the NECBL playoffs as one of the top four teams in the Northern Division.
Laconia (20-22) has finished the regular season and is awaiting its fate based on today’s finales.
Right-hander Connor Jones earned the victory on Friday, going 5 2/3 innings and scattering five hits. He allowed the one Laconia run.
Both Coman and Jones are from the University of Virginia, which reached the College World Series finals before losing to Vanderbilt.
