Pembroke plans sewer smoke tests

PEMBROKE — As part of a survey of the town’s sanitary sewer system, the Pembroke Sewer Department is planning smoke tests that are scheduled to run Aug. 5, 6, 11 and 12.

In an effort to locate breaks and defects in the sewer mains, the non-toxic smoke will be blown into the sewer mains, according to town officials, who said the smoke is harmless, and creates no fire hazard.

Residents with seldom-used drains are urged to pour water into the drain to fill the trap.

Anyone observing smoke in their home is encouraged to contact Paulette Malo at 300-8628.
