State police investigate vandalism spree in Cheshire and Sullivan counties

KEENE — New Hampshire State Police are seeking the public’s help in finding the person responsible for shooting out vehicle windows overnight Tuesday.

Police from several communities in Cheshire and Sullivan counties are investigating the overnight damage involving more than a dozen vehicles with total estimated damages exceeding $3,000.

As people began their day Wednesday morning, they discovered that a BB gun or pellet gun had shot out one or more of their vehicle windows overnight.

Wednesday morning, officers from Walpole, Alstead, Acworth, Newport, Croydon, the Sullivan County Sherriff’s Department and state police took reports at many residences of vehicle windows being shot out.

Police believe the damage happened between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 2 a.m. Wednesday, the shooter or shooters traveled through several communities, stopping in roadways along the way to shoot out vehicle windows, police said Thursday.

Police are looking for a vehicle with a loud exhaust, possibly an older model 4x4 or a pickup truck.
