NH Business Newsreel: NH businesses earns SBA honors


The supplier diversity team at defense contractor BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems Division in Nashua has received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Award in manufacturing from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The honor — announced Wednesday as part of 2016 National Small Business Week awards — mentioned team members Lici Deng, Debra Rotkiewics, Karen Raymond and Monica St. Julien. The SBA honored companies in 17 categories.

Elie El-Chalfoun of Bedford, owner and operator of Mega-X Gas and Convenience Stores, received the Small Business Person of the Year award for New Hampshire. Winners from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands have been invited to be recognized in Washington, D.C., May 1-2, when the national small business person of the year will be announced.

Wisc. company buys N.H. manufacturer

HUDSON — MRPC, a Wisconsin-based provider of medical device components and assemblies, has acquired Hudson-based Johnson Precision, which makes plastic injection molded components and assemblies.

Johnson Precision has extensive experience providing molded components as well as finished medical devices for the medical industry, MRPC said in a news release. Johnson’s mold-making capabilities for building plastic injection tooling allows MPRC to provide a service it did not offer previously, the company said.

Johnson Precision, which employs about 40 people, will continue full operation as a division of MRPC, the company said.

State hosts Berlin fair

BERLIN — New Hampshire Employment Security is hosting the Berlin Job and Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 7 at the state agency’s office, 151 Pleasant St.

A number of businesses with immediate job openings and future positions will be on hand. Career fields represented include manufacturing, staffing, retail, education and health care. Job seekers should dress professionally, bring copies of their resumes and be prepared to interview.

Comcast teams with Amazon

Comcast customers can now buy Xfinity TV, Internet and home phone services on Amazon.com, Comcast announced this week.

The new online marketplace gives users access to a dedicated customer service team and is another step in Comcast’s multi-year effort to transform the customer experience, the company said.

Granite State customers ordering from Amazon.com could receive their order from Amazon’s Nashua fulfillment center, a local Comcast spokesman said.
