Eric Haase homered twice for the Akron RubberDucks in a 9-4 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Eastern League play on Wednesday night at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio.
Haase’s three-run homer in the seventh inning gave Akron an 8-2 lead. Haase hit a solo shot in the second, as well, and Joe Sever hit a two-run homer in the fifth for Akron.
New Hampshire got on the board first, in the second inning, as Tim Lopes tripled home Emilio Guerrero. Haase got Akron even with his second-inning homer, and the RubberDuvks went ahead in the fifth on Sever’s homer.
Greg Allen singled home two in the sixth for Akron, and Francisco Mejia singled home Todd Hankins in the eighth.
New Hampshire scored twice in the eighth as Jonathan Davis singled home Tim Lopes, and Reese McGuire scored on a wild pitch.
Ryan Borucki (1-2) took the loss for New Hampshire, allowing four runs, three earned, in 5 1/3 innings. He fanned seven and walked two. Dusty Isaacs allowed four runs, three earned, in 1 2/3 innings. Shane Bieber (2-1) picked up the win for Akron, allowing two runs on three hits in seven innings.
The teams’ three-game series ends tonight at 7:05. Jon Harris (5-10, 5.38) pitches for New Hampshire. Matt Esparza (5-4, 4.41) goes for Akron.
