The Erie SeaWolves sent 12 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored eight runs en route to a 14-9 victory and three-game series sweep of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Sunday.
Harold Castro’s three-run triple off New Hampshire starter Conner Greene was the key blow of the inning and sent Greene (4-9) to the showers. He allowed 10 runs (all earned) on 12 hits over four-plus innings.
The Fisher Cats struck first, for five runs in the first inning, two coming home on run-scoring doubles by Gunnar Heidt and Andres Sotillo. In his first Eastern League game, Sotillo also homered, in the seventh.
New Hampshire returned home for a six-game homestand that begins Tuesday night against Hartford.
