EXETER - Fire personnel and Marine Patrol officers responded to a report Tuesday morning of an unattended sailboat floating in the Squamscott River, but the owner was soon located at Exeter Public Library, officials said.
Authorities were called to the Swasey Parkway area of the river shortly after 10 a.m. to investigate the loose boat. First responders had no reports of anyone missing and speculated that the boat may have just drifted down the river from Great Bay. Firefighters later discovered that the boat was anchored in the river when they attempted to use one of their boats to tow it.
After further investigation, officials located the owner at Exeter Public Library, which overlooks the river.
