Four Trenton pitchers held the Fisher Cats to six hits in a 3-1 win Friday night in Eastern League play in Trenton, N.J.
Trenton (66-56) closed the gap on Eastern Division-leading New Hampshire (68-51) to 3½ games with the win.
New Hampshire scored its lone run in the first as Harold Ramirez doubled home Forrest Wall. Trenton got even in the home half of the first on Trey Amburgey’s RBI single.
The winning run scored in the fourth on a wild pitch by Fisher Cats starter Tayler Saucedo (3-3), which allowed Ryan Lidge to score from third. Jhalan Jackson homered in the sixth to extend the lead.
Saucedo allowed all three runs, two earned, in six innings of work. He allowed seven hits and walked four. He also struck out four.
Reliever Jordan Foley (3-4) got the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief of starter Jonathan Loaisiga. Foley allowed three hits and fanned four. Matt Wivinis notched his second save with 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief.
The teams continue their four-game weekend series with a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. The series concludes Sunday with a 5 p.m. game.
