JON BERTI

Jon Berti hit for the cycle, leading the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to an 8-4 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs on Tuesday night in an Eastern League game at Hadlock Field.

The cycle was the second in team history — but second in about two months. On June 26, Jonathan Davis turned the trick against the Sea Dogs at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.

Berti’s cycle was accomplished “in order” of total bases. After flying out to lead off the game, he singled in the third, doubled in the fifth, tripled in the seventh and homered in the ninth. He also scored four runs.

Berti’s night overshadowed a monster night for Bo Bichette, who had a homer, double and single for three RBIs.

Jon Harris (11-5) worked five innings to earn the win. He allowed three runs on four hits, walking two and fanning three. Harris allowed homers to Esteban Quiroz and Chad De La Guerra

The victory allowed New Hampshire to remain one game in front of Trenton for the East Division lead with six regular-season games remaining. The Thunder beat Altoona on Tuesday, 8-1.
