Fisher Cats fall to Sea Dogs in 10-9 slugestStaff report

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats collected 15 hits but lost to the Portland Sea Dogs 10-9 on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field, falling out of sole possession of first place in the Eastern League’s East Division.
With Trenton’s 5-0 victory over Altoona, the Thunder and Fisher Cats are now tied for the division lead. New Hampshire has five regular-season games remaining, starting tonight with the series finale at Portland.
Max Pentecost had a two-run homer and a run-scoring single for New Hampshire, which fell behind 4-2 in the second inning and never recovered. Jon Berti tripled home a run, then scored on a wild pitch to pull New Hampshire within 10-9 in the eighth inning, but the visitors got no closer despite advancing a runner to second base with no outs in the ninth.
New Hampshire’s Santiago Espinal added a two-run homer and finished with three hits. Espinal scored three runs.
Chad De La Guerra and Luke Tendler homered for Portland, which finished with 14 hits.
