MANCHESTER — Rev. Christopher Martel, formerly of Merrimack, will take over as pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, the diocese of Manchester announced.

That pastor position at St. Catherine has been open since Rev. Paul Montminy resigned on June 27.

Montminy is currently on medical leave, said Thomas Bebbington, director of communication for the diocese.

Montminy had been the pastor at St. Catherine since March 2007, and before that served at Holy Rosary Church, in Rochester, since 1989.

Martel was assigned as the pastor at St. John Neumann Parish, in Merrimack, in 2012.

He has served as the diocese’s coordinator of international priests since 2014.

The diocese has not yet determined who will replace him at St. John Neumann.
