Just when I thought.....So some liberal Doc has decided safe spaces for all. Bring your friends and your heroin, here's some needles and a six pack of Narcon. Enjoy your stay...

Tony Campbell said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 8:03 am

This is asinine. They are doing more to encourage heroin use than they are deterring it. So the idea is to let junkies come in and use heroin and not get in trouble, but all the while little johnny pothead gets caught with a roach and he is being arrested. These morons are sending the wrong message. Anyone with heroin should be arrested right away, not be allowed to use it.

Susan Dodge said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 8:28 am

Wow, is all I can say to this. It seems to me when someone uses heroin they've decided life is over. Why are we babying and lavishing money on keeping them alive and comfortable?

PAUL LUNDWALL said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 8:44 am

Really? What happened to jail and fines for possession?

David Boyington said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 9:04 am

Found the original article. It's happening in Seattle, Washington...go figure.

George LeMont said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 9:29 am

Yes folks America is officially going insane. Who are these people who introduce such ideas?

Lynne Orr said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 11:02 am

Wow. Really? So, why not just set up "drug rooms" and allow people to use and abuse their drug of choice? Heroin, cocaine, crack or meth. I mean, they ALL have the potential for overdose and harming one's health. Why just allow heroin users? If your going to allow that, just legalize the ****** drugs. They should set up weed smoking rooms also. At least they won't have to worry about the weed smokers overdosing (never been a documented overdose of weed). First they want to give them clean needles (which get left dirty all over the city) and now "let's just give them a safe place to overdose". What a stupid ******* idea. The people suggesting it need to have THEIR heads examined.

Give them all a major dose of Thorozine, then lock them all up in a room together, and let them sleep it off. No cigs., no candy bars, no matches....

maureen millett said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 12:20 pm

They should also have to leave their pry bars, and break in tools at the front desk, before getting Thorozined up.

Steve Gamache said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 2:43 pm

NO!! what we need is more SWAT Raids with Soldiers who are armed to the teeth and dressed looking like they are invading Iraq, kicking in doors and Arresting these Animals, Patrols up and down our streets, three or four times a day, every day. And then build more Prisons, maybe Hi Rise, Hi Security Prisons, so we can incarcerate these Animals, with mandatory minimums of life without parole, and how about explosive collars around their necks so that if you try to escape and get 200 feet from the prison... the collar will blow you're head off. And then when that doesnt work we can come up with more radical methods.. That should do it.. Sounds harsh, but hey, this is a WAR ON DRUGS!!

maureen millett said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 4:33 pm

Exploding collars, and electronic shocks, for any of them coming in my dooryard! Excellent advice. Don't EFF with me!!!

maureen millett said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 4:42 pm

Dr. Timothy Lahey, Emeritus, should start paying off his tuition, some other way. Maybe a grant.... Puhleez!

Bill Brooks said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 5:04 pm

Wow! Bet the hospital is going to be responsible for outcomes. After all, there are doctors there and everything. Patients in the ER with legitimate problems can be sidelined and wait while low forms of life are tended to in the "safe room". What are they going to be injecting there? Pharmaceutical grade opiates or bathtub fentanyl from Mexico? The lawyers are slavering over this. Maybe they can ditch their fitness programs because they won't have to catch those ambulances any more.

WHAT, are you kidding me???Who in the hell are these so called smart people.

MICHAEL KING said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 7:06 pm

AND the libs wonder why Trump got elected. Who thinks this is a good idea?

maureen millett said Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 7:21 pm

I am willing to bite my tongue, and give him a rat's arsed chance at becoming a calm, respectable, human being. I hope he doesn't piss off those pesky North Koreans, while he's at it.

Troy MACPHERSON said Monday, January 23, 2017 at 9:41 am

Terrible idea, has anyone told this doc that heroin is illegal? Moreover it opens the hospitals for law suits if someone dies, and like one commenter said, do regular ER patients get put on hold because there is an OD in the heroin room. Just a dumb idea all around

I've heard everything now. First, the State promotes sex amongst our children by offering condoms and abortions to the girls that get pregnant, instead of teaching abstinence. Now they want to give addicts a place to shoot up? Give me a break!
