Manchester's Veterans Day Parade stepped off Sunday morning on Elm Street to recognize the service and sacrifices of the area's military members past and present. Francis B. "Sharkey" Madden, a Manchester native who enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Guam in the Pacific theater during World War II, center, receives the Veterans Council Tony Karam Award from Karam's widow Irene.
